LOBSTER BOAT, SMALL

Real workhorses, Lobster Boats now are used as ferries, tugs, and excursion vessels. Seldom said, but true; Lobster Boats have also been used for rum running. Pity the poor Coast Guard crew that tried to catch one speeding along at twenty knots while their top speed was eight!

BERMUDA SLOOP, MEDIUM

Some boats are for looks. Others actually sail. In the 1920s pond racing was a high tech business and the racers dressed up their (up to 8') toy boats with assorted hardware and gear. Bermuda Sloops could be recognized by a long bowsprit on a relatively short-hulled boat. As pond racers they were popular in the roaring thirties. A weighted keel, a relatively waterproof hull and hardware to trim sails and masts are all there. A rudder quadrant controls steering to some extent.

NEW YORK PILOT NO. 2

In the Age of Sail, no Captain existed who liked to sail into port in the dead of night or in a raging storm. Thatís where pilots came in. They signaled incoming vessels, then came alongside to drop off a pilot who could expertly guide vessels inside. Pilot boats were like the yachts of their day, fast, nimble and very seaworthy. The first America's Cup racer, ďAmerica", was built along the lines of one of the fastest pilot boats. Our N.Y. Pilot no. 2 model is hand built plank on frame using original construction blueprints and only authentic materials.

SHIP WALL BRACKETS, SET OF 2

Votive ship models, as they were called, were suspended from the rafters of many a sailor's church. Some feel that this is the best way to display a model. As a compromise, we've designed two 'universal' brackets in bronze and wood. When attached to a wall with accompanying hardware (for wood and plaster walls), the brackets hold up the model and nothing interferes with the beautiful curves and lines of your ship's hull and sails.
